E and I went to the farm and shaped the tree we will harvest this year. I guess when it gets a little cooler, we will cut it and bring it home! I loved the smell of the evergreen when we were shaping the tree.
Fun time of year!
Our tree, I am afraid to admit, will have to be of the artificial veriety. We have enjoyed watching the tree harvest in Oregon, the number one producer of Christmas trees in the US, over 8 million last year. They are all out on the market now, and it is time to start planting the "instant lawn" crop for spring It isn't even Dec. yet!
Nice tree!
I was going to skip the tree this year and decorate the ficus instead, but the evergreen wreath I got at the farmer's market smelled so good that I started to want a tree. Then the ficus started to look kind of wierd and ticked off (ficus with an attitude) when I hung the little mini glass balls on it, so I gave in and stopped at Wilco (the farm store) on my way home from work and bought a tree from the FFA kids. Not as exciting as cutting your own, but my adventure was in watching two 15 year old FFA kids load the 6' tree into the back of the Toyota Matrix. I know, most people load it onto the roof, but where's the fun in that?
