Roving Weins on the road again

We’re on the road now. Tonight is night two at Toppenish Legends Casino RV southeast of Yakima. The site was chosen for price and the 1st Annual Toppenish Bluegrass Festival. We went by to watch the audio visual guy from the local Indian School try to debug the microphones. After two bags of Kettle corn he had the job done. As soon as the first band began (graduates of Toppenish High School Class of 1967) the crowd unplugged the mike cords again and announced the Last Annual Bad Music Festival. The RV Park is nice, well equipped, and the fields of bionic goat heads are still soft and green. After they quit irrigating the huge fields of corn and grapes adjacent to the park there will be goat heads the size of golf balls with ten penny nail spikes! Hoover was a bit nervous. Another claim to fame is the Yakima Valley is second only to the Willamette Valley in world Hop production and the Hop Museum is here in Toppenish. The town reminds me a lot of Socorro with water and vegetation and a well endowed Indian Nation Headquarters instead of NMTech. Also going on this weekend is a gigantic Pow Wow and rodeo across the highway from us next to Legends Casino. It sounds like someone is putting a roof on an aircraft hanger using 2 pound hammers with a work crew of 100’s. We have toured the Valley with Hoo and the Jeep and are headed out for Steamboat Rock at Electric City, WA on Monday. Tuesday we will be on the banks of Flathead River in Kalispell, MT. It’s great to be back on the road again.
